Weather was a bit cold, but a very beautiful 6km walk around a lake surround by Paperbarks. They say this area is a remnant of how much of the Perth Metro area once was. This area is very close where the first settlers set up camp in 1829 for a short period of time.
After our invigorating walk we had breakfast at the Coogee Beach Cafe. Much to Peter's surprise it was an acceptable quality egg and bacon, although the coffee was a tad small in volume.
Next week we go north to a walk through Mindarie sand dunes.

Thompson Lake Saturday Sept 22, 2012
Our walk today was 6km around lake Thompson, now part of a regional park. It was only a short distance from, just south of Cockburn Central and off the freeway.
The are is well fenced in an effort to keep foxes out, although we believe we saw one running into the scrub, there is an active baiting programme according to the signs.
The track was very easy walking around the lack except for a small section in which we had to find our own way through the wet under foot scrub as the track was under water.
At one stage Peter fell over as we went through the scrub, it was pleasing to note that he didn't seem to suffer any injuries from his tumble, the softness of the ground cushioned the impact.
After Peter recovered we finished our walk around the lake and eventually rejoined a track that was not under water. We also came across a chap who visited the park each day for a walk. He indicated that the park contained 17 varieties of orchids, but he had only found 4. We spotted a hawk and eagle flying around as we neared the end of our journey.
For breakfast this morning we ended up at Miss Maud's in the Cockburn Central shopping centre. Before returning to Peter's place we went to the Canningvale Markets and obtained some fish.

Herdsman Lake Sept 15 2012
So Kathryn joined me for the quite beautiful walk around Herdsman Lake. It was 8km in distance and a mixture of parkland, birds, water and beautiful homes. It took about 90 minutes to walk, Kathryn did about half the distance.
Afterwards we enjoyed a breakfast at the Bishop & Clove in Wembley. This was recommended by the Urbanspoon review. It was abreast choice for breakfast And reasonably priced.
The weather today was a superb spring day. Next Saturday it should be a walk around Thompson Lake.

Lake Joondalup Sat Sept 1
A really nice start to the first day of Spring. We started extra early this morning at 6:15am as I had a meeting to attend at 10:30am.
We arrived at Joondalup shortly after 7:00am, quite amazed at the amount of traffic for a Saturday morning on the freeway. Joondalup is a superbly designed township.
The walk along the foreshore of the lake was just so superb, very beautiful. There was a lot of birds, and we even saw several kangaroos. The return walk is 5.6km and took us about 70 minutes, so 5km an hour.
For breakfast we ended up at the Dome, as the place Peter wanted to go to is closed on Saturday mornings. I settled for the BLT and Peter had the usual poached eggs.
We won't be able to do our walk next Saturday as kathryn and I will be in Kalgoorlie. Our next walk will be around Herdsman Lake
