This is the first official walk for a couple weeks. Peter couldn't make it this week due to family commitments. Paul Wearne came along for the ride, which was very good of him.
This week's walk was at Trigg Mountain in Karrinyup. This area is one of the official bushland preservation areas in the Perth area. You could feel even in the early hours of the day that it was going to be a warm one, the official temperature is 35+. There was also more flies than usual, which is not unusual for this time of the year.
The walk was very pleasant through the bushland, with the main track sealed. There was lovely views across the ocean towards Rottnest Island. Paul remarked that he had never seen the view so clear. there was also quite a few signs indicating the types of plants that grow in the area. I especially noted the Quandong trees, haven't seen these in the metro area before. They have a large red fruit and are edible. The fruit are edible, which is something for our bushland.
We walked probably close to 6kms with some steep dune climbing, a little bit of a puff. We had breakfast at a local eatery found via Urbanspoon. It was very popular and the food was as good as the reviews indicated.
I'm looking forward to the walk next week along Cottesloe beach with Peter.
