Started our walk a little earlier today. Collected Peter at 6.30 am. We were at Woodman Point before 7:00 am. Woodman Point is south of Fremantle. situated in the middle of the beautiful Cockburn Sound. Unfortuntely much of the beauty has been absorbed by Cockburn Sound being used for heavy industry as some of the pictures show. This commenced in the 1950s when it looked like Cockburn sound was a long way from the major Perth suburbs.
Woodman Point has a large recreational area and on our 7km walk we saw blue wren, can't recall seing on of these in the metro area before and there was a large seal swimming at the end of the point.
We completed our walk in a little over an hour on a very well made bitumen pathway. Breakfast was at the Didyma Cafe in Fremantle. The cafe had a strong Turkish influence, was very clean and served up an excellent breakfast. We were home by 9:30 am in time to attend the Sri Lanka Spring Fair for the rest of the day.
Next weekend I will be in Brisbane and hope to give an update on any walks I find there.
